Winter Park, Colorado is one of those mountain towns that despite the growing expansion of buidlings, restauratns and breweries, always seems to maintain it’s mountain town charm. Located 45 miles from Denver, Winter Park Colorado is a fantastic ski and snowboard town, as well as an epic overnight stop for those heading up to Rocky Mountain National Park. There are yummy restaurants, a host of sweet airbnbs and hotels, and a growing number of craft breweries and distilleries for those who imbibe. Cannot recommend Winter Park enough as a destination location for your elopement!
Some things are just easy decisions. As avid snowboarders as well, they wanted to make the trip from Michigan out to their former home in Colorado and share the magic of the mountains with their closest friends and family as they celebrated their 8+ years together. As the snow set in right as the ceremony started, this Winter Park Elopement was Colorado perfection.
Emily and Mike, who are both avid snowboarders and former residence of Colorado, decided that they wanted to elope in among the snow covered mountains for their wedding day They chose the location because they love the outdoors and they wanted to get married in a beautiful place. When you elope in Colorado in the winter, the weather can be so unpredictable! However, Emily and Mike were down for whatever, and boy did the weather not disappoint!
Emily wore a white gown with a plunging neckline and long sleeves for the ceremony atop the Gondola at Winter Park resort. As a hair stylist herself, with a focus on minimalism, she did all her own styling and kept the flair to just the basics.
The entire time they were getting ready, I was watching the weather radar. It wasn’t snowing yet, but the radar was calling for a potential storm right at 1 when the ceremony was supposed to happy! When we arrived at the mountain top after riding the gondola up from the base of Winter Park, fat snowflakes started to cushion the ceremony site. Guests settled in with their blankets and hand warmers, and what happened next was nothing short of magical.
The ceremony itself was on top of the mountain with what started as stunning views of the valley below. However right at 1 PM the snow started to kick on HARD, and the couple exchanged beautiful vows under a blanket of fat snowflakes.
