Scenic Fall Elopement in Crested Butte, Colorado | Alexa + Sean

Alexa and Sean had a very clear vision for their wedding day, one that was deeply personal and filled with details that meant the world to them. Their intimate elopement in Crested Butte, Colorado is a prime and beautiful example of what makes these celebrations so special. From the stunning locations, to the amazing intimate moments between Alexa and Sean, everything came together perfectly for their elopement!

Getting Ready for The Day

Alexa and Sean spent the morning of their elopement getting ready together in the company of Alexa’s parents and their 2 dogs. Their pups are a huge part of their lives, not just because they’re their fur-babies, but also due to them being such big wolf rescue advocates! Alexa volunteers at a wolf shelter once a week, and one of their pups is actually half wolf! This made their 2 pups an incredibly important part of their elopement, as we’ll see throughout the day! After everyone was finished getting ready, and Sean made his exit so as not to see Alexa in her wedding dress early, we all headed to Emerald Lake for their elopement ceremony.

Emerald Lake used to be a hidden gem of the Crested Butte area for elopement ceremonies, but recently it has become quite the popular location. It’s easy to understand why as this space is simply breathtaking! The towering mountaintops, brilliant evergreen trees, and deep emerald waters of the lake all make for a fabulous setting to marry the love of your life. Alexa and Sean experienced this all firsthand, though they really couldn’t take their eyes off of one another during the ceremony. It was a sweet and simple ceremony officiated by Alexa’s parents who are so supportive of these two incredible people. After sharing their vows with one another Alexa and Sean were officially newlyweds, which meant it was time to celebrate!

Celebrating Their Elopement in Crested Butte

The first order of business for Alexa and Sean’s elopement festivities was to get some portrait photos throughout the wondrous landscape of Crested Butte, Colorado. This is when Alexa and Sean really started to let loose and enjoy themselves. These two are incredibly fun, and SO goofy with one another. I seriously cannot get over the love and pure joy that radiates between them, and I’m so glad I got to experience it firsthand throughout the day! 

After portraits at Emerald Lake and a nearby field we headed to our final stop, Kebler Pass. This was THE perfect finale for the day. The fall colors were still on full display, and the rocky, mountainous landscape of the trail made for a wonderful setting to document Alexa and Sean. I especially love the lanterns they brought to give their photos a bit of a fun, moodier vibe. As we began to head back to their Airbnb we had a send off from a Moose which was a perfect touch for Alexa and Sean!

Back at the Airbnb it was time for a private dinner of surf n turf, courtesy of the endlessly talented Harvest to Home. After Alexa and Sean’s pups signed their marriage license (yes this is legal in Colorado and SO much fun!), they were then able to enjoy the rest of the night together as newlyweds!
