The wild and impressive landscapes of Juneau, Alaska offer couples an elopement experience that frankly feels out of this world. Raegan and Jared’s elopement is the perfect embodiment of this as the two were able to celebrate their love experiencing an array of beauty you can only find in Alaska. Breathtaking mountain views, portraits in a historic stone cabin, and a field of fireweed are just a few of the gorgeous backdrops we were able to enjoy during their elopement, and I can’t wait for you to see the highlights. First, some kind words from Raegan and Jared though!
“All I can say is this was one of the best experiences and our photos were absolutely stunning. Memories to last a lifetime. Rose is such a wonderful photographer and her skills behind that camera are perfect. I hope everyone books with her because our time with Rose was wonderful. Thank you for an amazing time in Alaska!” -Raegan and Jaren
I met Raegan and Jared at the docks in Juneau as the two had taken a cruise ship into the city! They were traveling through the Pacific Northwest and Alaska as a final bit of adventure before their big move to Georgia. An elopement in Juneau, Alaska was the main event of this escapade, and the two could not have chosen a better location! On our way out of Juneau we stopped by Frenchie’s Floral Studio for Raegan’s bouquet and Jared’s boutonniere.
Our first stop was about 20 minutes outside of Juneau, Skaters Cabin. This stone cabin was built in 1963 and sits on the Mendenhall Lake. Mendenhall Lake, and the towering Mendenhall Glacier behind it make this one of the most popular tourist sites in Juneau, Alaska, and as such a perfect space for Raegan and Jared’s elopement! These two were absolutely head over heels for one another, and documenting their love in a setting as wondrous as this was SUCH a phenomenal experience!
After our time at Skaters Cabin we then headed a few miles south to Auke Lake for some more elopement portraits in the Alaskan wilderness. Between the scenic Auke Lake as well as the seemingly endless fields of purple fireweed we couldn’t have asked for better and more diverse backdrops for their day. Finally, to cap the day off we made our way back into Juneau for a cocktail at the Amalga Distillery, talk about ending your Alaskan elopement in style!
Juneau is one of my favorite places to visit in all of Alaska, so it makes sense that it’s also one of my favorite places for an elopement in the state. As incredible as elopements here in Juneau are, the thought of planning a destination elopement like this can make it seem pretty daunting for couples. Where do you stay? What are you supposed to do outside of your elopement? Where should you even elope at? Is there a best time to elope in Juneau? Those are just some of the questions you’ll want to ask as you plan an elopement in the Alaskan capital, and luckily this article I wrote covers all that and more!
