I’m by no means a stranger to elopements in Iceland, and one constant I can attest to is that every single elopement experience here has been nothing short of pure magic and an out of this world adventure. Sayde and Chris’ elopement is NO exception, as the two had the most fun and exciting elopement on the volcanic island. With a day full of wonder, ten years of love to celebrate, and one of the coolest places on earth to explore, what more could you ask for in an elopement?
Before we really dive into what made Sayde and Chris’ elopement in Iceland so special, I first wanted to talk a little about these two amazing people. Over 10 years ago they met one another at a California amusement park where Sayde trained Chris. While the two didn’t immediately fall head over heels for one another, they did become fast friends. Chris was the first to develop a PRETTY obvious crush on Sayde, though she’d leave him in the friendzone for a good few months. It wasn’t until after setting him up with a mutual friend that she had a funny feeling, a bit of jealousy! From there they decided to give a relationship a shot, and while they did take things slow, there was never a doubt in either of their minds that they were meant for one another!
10 years later and they decided that there was no better way to celebrate their love and this next chapter of life together than by eloping in a place as wonderful as Iceland.
When I say that Sayde and Chris had a full day of adventure for their elopement in Iceland, I’m not exaggerating. Together we were able to put together an unforgettable elopement experience that featured some of Iceland’s most iconic locations. Before heading out on our adventure though, Sayde and Chris took some time getting ready with one another which was THE sweetest start to their day!
Our first stop was at the Fossalar Waterfall where Sayde and Chris set up camp for a romantic picnic along the water. It’s hard to imagine a more picturesque setting for a picnic, and it was ever apparent just how special this moment was to both Sayde and Chris. The two were so present with one another, and this level of intention would fuel the rest of our adventures throughout Iceland. After taking some portrait photos along the water and a nearby canyon, we made our way to the stunning Reynisfjara black sand beach. Any Game of Thrones fans out there will instantly recognize this spot. This breathtaking beach is one of my all time favorite places for elopement portraits, not just in Iceland, but in general!
After our time at the black sand beach, we had just one more stop to make for Sayde and Chris’ elopement, the Skogafoss Waterfall! Another iconic, epic, and strikingly gorgeous location that acted as the perfect grand finale for Sayde and Chris’ adventure. The weather had been perfect for us all day, if not even a little too warm at times! Treated to full sun, and a 65+ degree day, Sayde and Chris had no fear approaching the waterfall for some close up photos. Enveloped in the cool mist of the waterfall, and with a rainbow shining overhead, the two capped off their elopement day with a moment of pure joy!
I don’t think I’ll ever get over the magic of Sayde and Chris’ elopement in Iceland. The day was the perfect mix of slow, intentional moments combined with those of pure excitement and adventure.
